Margaret Lanora Carter, age 91, of Naples, Texas, passed away Wednesday, July 19, 2017 in Hughes Springs, Texas. Margaret was born April 28, 1926 in Naples, Texas to Eddie Effridge and Ladonia Trumble Jones.

Margaret was a member at First Baptist Church in Naples. She was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening, quilting, and cats. She was known in the Naples area as "Granny Carter."

Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Carter, in 1998; her parents; and fourteen brothers and sisters.

Surviving family members include three daughters and one son-in-law, Claudette Wakefield of Naples, Texas, Mary and Terry Lewis of Hockley, Texas, and Barbara Carter of Naples, Texas; two sons and daughters-in-law, John and Nan Carter of Treasure Island, Florida, and David and Tracey Carter of Naples, Texas; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 21 great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, July 21, 2017 at the funeral home. Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 22, 2017 at Springhill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bar Nun Cowboy Ministries in Omaha, Texas.
