Maude Marie Niblett, age 85, of Mt. Pleasant, Texas, passed away Sunday, March 11, 2018 in Mt. Pleasant. Maude was born June 24, 1932 in Cason, Texas to Abraham Brinkley Cornelius Fomby and Maude Elizabeth Kersey Fomby.
Maude was a local legend in Northeast Texas. She was known for her impeccable business skills and work ethic. She was a member at North Ridge Church of Christ in Mount Pleasant and graduated from Daingerfield High School. Over the years, she was involved with several businesses. She and her husband owned and operated Niblett Oil Company along with various Gulf and Mobil Service Stations. When they sold the oil business, Maude opened "Mine and Yours Consignment Shop", a business venture that stemmed from her love of Garage sales. She was a successful Real Estate investor and Director of American National Bank of Mount Pleasant. She loved dogs, Elvis, and her family immensely.
Maude was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. Niblett in 2006; her parents; one son, Charles Anthony "Tony" Niblett; seven brothers, Jack Fomby, Earl Fomby, Carl Fomby, Neal Fomby, Grady Fomby, Archie Fomby, and James Howard Fomby; and four sisters, Onice Cofer, Edna Kate White, Mary Elizabeth Hargrove, and Juanita Davis.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Barbara Niblett of Mt. Pleasant; two grandchildren, Austin Niblett and wife Leah, and Shelby Niblett; two great grandchildren, Beckham Niblett and Charlie Mae Niblett; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at North Ridge Church of Christ in Mt. Pleasant. Funeral services will be at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at North Ridge Church of Christ with Bro. Max Mayes officiating. Interment will follow at Hughes Springs Cemetery in Hughes Springs, Texas.
