Melba Harty, age 84, of Linden, Texas, formerly of Omaha, Texas, passed away Sunday, December 14, 2014, in an Atlanta, Texas hospital. Melba was born September 10, 1930 in Marietta, Texas to Horace and Minnie Harty.

Melba was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Estelle Smith and Inez Shaddix.

Surviving family members include one sister, Thelma Smith of Marietta, Texas; four nieces, Missie McCord, Sandra Heard, Lois Shaddix, and Mary Alice Campbell; two nephews, Bob Shaddix and Kenneth Smith; and numerous other relatives.

Graveside services are planned for 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 17, 2014, at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Marietta, with Rev. David Hazelwood officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 16, 2014, at the funeral home.
