Michael Wayne Roberts
December 13, 1954 – September 30, 2020

After receiving a call Wednesday, September 30, 2020, Mike Roberts picked up his hat and left. Sick and tired of reading all of the political news and Facebook, Mike wanted to make it known that he died as a direct result of being an a$$hole, refusing to follow doctors' orders and raising hell for more than sixty years. He lived his life to the fullest!

Mike loved laughter, music, cooking delicious food and arguing politics. He loved spending time with his friends from all over the world and he loved vodka…but most of all he loved his wife Nancy and his dog Bear. They enjoyed their winters in South Padre Island watching the waves and enjoying the sunsets from the beach. Mike had many friends, but his oldest and dearest was his sister DeAnna… Always a prank or a joke going on between the two, Mike won their long time bet of who would die first. They always agreed that whoever went first won, because the other would be left to grieve. Let it be duly be noted, however, that the last game of DOMINOS was won by DeAnna.

Mike's grandfather W.L. Roberts, was his friend, his mentor and both his domino and fishing partner. Some of his other influences growing up in Naples were his first employers, Johnny Spencer at Spencer's Grocery and Preston Stone from Stone's Texaco; men that taught him the value of a dollar and an honest days work. Jeanette Stone, Preston's wife, always remained Mike's favorite work mom.

Mike's graduation from Pewitt High School in 1972 was a foundation that prepared him for college and later his CPA. He was the top of his field in cost accounting and traveled the world working, teaching and writing. His hours of hard work paid off and allowed him to be very generous with his family and friends. He was always the life of the party, always the one with the open wallet and always trying to figure a way to help people.

In his early days, he went to Australia on a business trip and came back with boomerangs for everyone! Always something fun and funny! Mike is leaving an abundance of friends and family that will miss his shenanigans. We all know when he gets to his next destination, he will see his Mom and say "Hi Ma, you old bat!" It was his way to keep her in line by not allowing her to think she had the upper hand. His sister would say Mike was an only child. (Our family joke!) Mom always liked him best. We all did. Mike will be lovingly remembered by his wife Nancy, his dog Bear, sister DeAnna, sisters and brothers-in-law Judi Fabing and husband Rick, Patty Gondek and husband Gary and brother and sister-in-law Kevin and Gerry Moore, lots of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
