Michael Gene "Mike" Thigpen, age 69, of Omaha, Texas, passed away Wednesday, July 24, 2019, at his home. Mike was born September 26, 1949 in Naples, Texas to Kenneth Leslie Thigpen and Thelma Tigert Thigpen.

Mike retired from Red River Army Depot.  He graduated from Paul Pewitt and then attended Kilgore College to study drafting.  Mike attended First United Methodist Church in Omaha.  He enjoyed shooting skeet, fishing, hunting, watching football, computer programming, and reading.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Kenneth Thigpen and Jerry Thigpen; and one sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and James Meadows.

Survivors include one sister-in-law, Brenda Smith of Daingerfield, Texas; four nieces, Ann Casey and Mike Johnson of Naples, Pam Meadows of Omaha, Lisa Betts and husband Cody of Lindale, Texas, Sherry Chalfant and husband Kevin of Troy, Texas; two nephews, Jimmy Meadows and wife Laurie of Miller Grove, Texas and Kenny Thigpen of China Springs, Texas; 11 great-nieces and nephews; special friend, Wanda Motley of Omaha; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 28, 2019 at Springhill Cemetery in Naples with Rev. Jay Barnes officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Springhill Cemetery Association.
