Omaha
Odis Young Cline, affectionately known as Papa "O", passed away on June 4, 2025, in Mt. Pleasant, Texas, at the age of 85. He was born on November 27, 1939, in Omaha, Texas, to Julia C. Cline and Otis "Hawk" Cline.
Odis was a lifelong resident of Omaha and a devoted member and Deacon of Concord Missionary Baptist Church. He was a member of the David Elliot Lodge number 364 in Omaha and a Worshipful Master at David Elliot Lodge number 364. He was also a District Deputy Grand Master of District 6.
A 1958 graduate of Paul H. Pewitt High School, Odis began his career at Coker Chevrolet Company in Naples. Over the years, he became a successful businessman. He was part owner of Kennedy & Cline Garage, owner of White's Auto Store in Omaha, and later, owner of Cline Auto Parts Store, where he mentored many young men. He also co-owned Petal Pushers Flowers & Gifts in Omaha and Naples. In addition to his businesses, Odis raised chickens for Pilgrim's for over 25 years and was an avid cattle rancher.
Odis loved to ride in his covered wagon, that he built, and his surrey. He drove his surrey in the Abilene Parade and an antique surrey in the Cheyenne Parade.
His dedication to his community was evident through his many years of service. He served on the Pewitt School Board for nine years and the Omaha City Council for ten years. He was a longtime board member of the Morris County Farm Bureau and a member of the Omaha Park Board. In recognition of his contributions, he received the Omaha Businessman Award and was honored as the Grand Marshal of the 2024 Omaha Christmas Parade.
Odis was preceded in death by his parents, Julia and Otis Cline; his grandparents, his beloved in-laws, Mattie and H.C. Griffin; and his brother-in-law, Tom Griffin.
He is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 64 years, Ann Cline; daughter, Shelley Derrick and husband Steve; granddaughter, Heather Wood and husband Jordan; and two great-grandsons, Cutter Griffin Wood and Brett Hunter Wood—who were the light of his life. He is also survived by his Aunt Ruby Grigsby and many cherished friends and family.
