Obituary

Raymond Lon Garrett, age 85, of Naples, Texas, passed away Friday, January 4, 2019, in Texarkana, Texas. Raymond was born February 11, 1933 in Prescott Arkansas to Leon Garrett and Winnie Lou Mitchell Garrett.

Raymond retired from Shell Oil Company, where he worked as an accountant.  He was a member at Liberty Baptist Church, formerly a deacon at First Baptist Church in Naples, and once he moved to Cornerstone Retirement Center in Texarkana, he led the singing.  He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, the Shell Retirees Club, and the Enon Builders Association.  Raymond enjoyed riding horses and mules, fishing, hunting, and traveling.

Raymond was preceded in death by his wife, Marcelle Garrett, in 2005; his parents; and one sister, Linda Malin.

Survivors include his wife, Virgie Matthews-Garrett of Naples; one sister, Lavenia Jordan of Coldwater, Mississippi; one brother and sister-in-law, Hurshel and Linda W. Garrett of Dover, Arkansas; great-grandchildren, Julee Reid and Jace Reid; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 7, 2018 at Harrison Funeral Home in Naples with Bro. Shane Sibley and Bro. Bryan Peck officiating.  Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Bryans Mill. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the funeral.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Gideons International.
