Obituary

Roger Edward Fordyce, age 87, of Naples, Texas, passed away Saturday, December 14, 2024, in Daingerfield, Texas.  Roger was born November 13, 1937, in Greeley, Colorado, to Floyd and Anna Hennig Fordyce.

Roger was a member of First Baptist Church in Hughes Springs, Texas.  He went into the military at the age of 17 and served in the United States Air Force for four years.  He then joined the National guard and served another seventeen years.  Roger worked at Starkwetzel Packing Plant, Rath Packing Plant, and Hebrew National Meat Packing before retiring.  He made it his mission to instill a work ethic in his children.

Roger was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Carolyn Fordyce; and his parents; one sister, Lois Petty; and four brothers, Clyde Fordyce, Russ Fordyce, Floyd Fordyce, Jr., and Ralph Fordyce.

Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Crain Fordyce; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Clyde Fordyce of Kingston, Ohio, Tom and Kelly Fordyce of Daingerfield, Texas, and Keith and Rhonda Fordyce of Naples; one daughter and son-in-law, Christina and Lance Hauth of Bentonville, Arkansas; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 20, 2024, at Harrison Funeral Home in Naples, Texas with Rev. Joseph Adams officiating.  Interment will follow at Springhill Cemetery in Naples.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the funeral.
