Rovene Louise Johnson Kirchner born on November 15, 1924 at Chambersburg, Missouri died August 15, 2015. She was the youngest of six children born to Jesse and Carrie Lakin Johnson. All have preceded her in death as well as her husband Richard of 59 years.

She attended Chambersburg Elementary School and graduated from Revere High School in 1942. It had been her desire to become a nurse; however at that time with World War II in progress there was a scarcity of farm help. She stayed on the farm to help her parents and enjoyed farm life. After World War II ended she worked at Swift and Company in Keokuk, Iowa breaking eggs. It wasn't like the farm, but she stayed on until the end of egg breaking season. She then started work at Dryden Rubber Company in Keokuk. There she became acquainted with Richard Kirchner. One day as she was walking, and he drove by and she heard "Hey Red want a ride?" That led to their marriage on November 17, 1948. In February of 1949 they moved to a farm at Chambersburg and did general farming and dairy. Church had always been an important part in their lives. They felt there was a need to let their faith take deeper roots. At a revival at Chambersburg Methodist Church, in the fall of 1950, they made public their profession of faith.

On June 9, 1950 their first child Garey Lynn was born. He and his wife Vickie live in Crandall, Texas. On November 24, 1952 Larry Lee joined the family. He and his wife Kathy live in Mesquite, Texas. On November 4, 1954 Sandra Sue was added. She now lives in Omaha, Nebraska. Ken Maynard arrived November 9, 1956. He and his wife Carol live in Missouri City, Texas. Kay Marlene arrived on December 30, 1958 and lives in Arlington, Texas. Her husband, Don Wood is deceased. Ronda Jean was born on September 14, 1961. She and her husband Terry Abendschein live in Crowley, Texas. Ricky Paul was born on March 3, 1964, and he lives in Dallas, Texas. In 1962 the family moved to Dallas, Texas due to the employment opportunities in that area, leaving the farm life behind. Employment was easy to find in Dallas. The children learned responsibility by having newspaper routes.

In 1974 Rovene took a job at Golden Acres Jewish Nursing home. She started as a nurse's aide. Then she became a CNA. She continued to work there for 18 ½ years. In 1993 they were able to move back to a little piece of the country life in Douglassville, Texas where the pine trees grow tall and straight. She always said she was so very blessed.

She is survived by 7 children, 17 grandchildren (11 boys and 6 girls), 18 great-grandchildren (14 girls and 4 boys), nieces and nephews, two sisters-in-law Viola Johnson of Kansas City, Missouri and Bernice Kirchner of Donnellson, Iowa.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at the funeral home. Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 19, 2015, at Creekmore Cemetery in Naples, with Rev. Richard McQuitty officiating.
