Sammie Francis Baker, age 83, of Rockwall, Texas passed away Sunday, January 8, 2017 at her home. Sammie was born March 16, 1933 in Omaha, Texas to James Samuel Robinson and Lura Francis Harvey Robinson.

Sammie was a member at Shiloh Terrace Baptist Church in Dallas where she was very active in her Sunday School class. She retired from Southwestern Bell in Dallas where she was an engineering clerk. Sammie was a member of the Southwestern Bell Pioneers. She loved to spend time with her children and grandchildren.

Sammie was preceded in death by her father, Sam Robinson; mother and stepfather, Lura and Roe Tigert; and one son-in-law, Jim Batten.

Surviving family members include her husband of 62 years, Emmett Baker of Rockwall; two daughters and one son-in-law, Nan and Phil Ketcham of Rockwall, and Sherry Baker of Round Rock, Texas; three grandchildren, Richard Batten and wife Jaymie, William Batten, and Lauren Baker; two great-grandchildren, Jay Batten and Henry Batten; and numerous other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Friday, January 13, 2017 at the funeral home. Graveside services will be at 12:00 noon at Omaha Cemetery in Omaha with Bro. Bob Garsee officiating.
