Sara Jane Giles French, age 87, of Omaha, Texas, passed away peacefully in her sleep on December 14, 2024. She was born on June 20, 1937, in Omaha, Texas, to David Spencer Giles and Kathryn Samantha Apperson Giles.

Sara was raised in Omaha and was a proud graduate of Paul Pewitt High School.  She continued her education at Southern Methodist University.  In 1956, she married Gerald French.  They had three children, Kathy, Beverly, and Steve and raised them in Fort Worth.  In 1994, Gerald retired and they returned to spend their retirement years in Omaha.

Sara was an avid sports fan especially for Texas teams – the Dallas Cowboys, Dallas Mavericks, and Texas Rangers.  Her love of Omaha was apparent through her involvement in civic affairs.  She served on numerous Boards and Committees for the Pewitt Education Foundation, Omaha Park, Museum, Chamber of Commerce, and Naples Library.  She was very active in the Conservative Republicans of Northeast Texas.  Sara was a member of the Omaha and Naples Methodist Churches.

Sara was preceded in death by husband and her parents.

Survivors include her two daughters and sons-in law; Kathy and Bobby Thornton of Fort Worth, Texas and Beverly and John Adler of Allen, Texas; one son and daughter-in-law Steve and Stacy French of Haslet, Texas; six grandchildren and spouses Adam and Danelle Thornton, Sara and Bradley Hudgins; Jeff French, Greg French and fiancé Emily Brightman, Kathryn and Jack Palmer, Ross LaBenske; and three great-grandchildren; Tanner, Hunter, Reagan, and a new great-granddaughter, Penelope Palmer.

Memorial services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 19, 2024 at Harrison Funeral Home in Naples, Texas with Rev. Daniel Rigsby officiating.  Interment will be private at Omaha Cemetery.
