William Scott Smith, age 81, of Marietta, Texas, passed away Sunday, November 20, 2016, at his home. Scott was born October 25, 1935 in Marietta to Fred and Katie Smith.

Scott was a member at Gray Baptist Church in Gray, Texas. He retired from Brown and Root where he was a heavy equipment mechanic. He enjoyed fishing and camping, golfing, and watching sports. When he was younger, Scott refereed football and basketball games.

Scott was preceded in death by his wife, Loretta Smith in 2010; his parents; one brother, Marshal Smith; and one sister, Winnie Mae Lawings Moreland.

Surviving family members include three sons and two daughters-in-law, Terry Smith of Marietta, Gregg and Hope Thomas of Mt. Pleasant, and Patrick and Diane Smith of Tyler; one daughter and son-in-law, Belinda and Jerry Crocker of Marietta; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, November 21, 2016 at the funeral home. Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at Oak Ridge Cemetery with Bro. Lance Lewis officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cypress Basin Hospice, Mt. Pleasant, Texas.
