Michael Shane Dodson, 53, was born on October 20, 1971 and departed this earth to spend eternity with his Lord and Savior on January 24, 2025.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents Curtis and Melba Hammonds, W. L. "Doc" and Mary Joyce Dodson, and D. W. "Red"and Alice Betts, and one uncle, Larry Betts.

Shane is survived by his parents Donna and David Betts and Michael L. Dodson of Naples; brothers Cody Betts and wife Lisa of Lindale, Andrew Betts and wife Denise of Naples, Jason Dodson of Mt Pleasant, James Cory Dodson of Naples; one sister Tamara Crow of Gold Beach, Oregon; uncles Mark Dodson and wife Danette of Royse City, Roger Hammonds and wife Joan of Heartland, Ron Hammonds and wife Brenda of Nederland; aunts Brenda Betts of Naples, Rhonda Minter and husband Dee of Tampa, Florida; nieces Brylee Betts, Kaylee Betts, Constance Dodson, Ivy Havens; nephews Ryan Betts, Austin Betts, Michael Dodson, Wesson Havens, William Stephens; numerous cousins and one special friend, Dee Dee Allen of Ore City.

Shane was born at David Granberry Memorial Hospital in Naples, Texas and passed away at the Titus County Regional Medical Center in Mt. Pleasant, Texas.  He was a friend to everyone he came across and never met a person he did not like. Shane had a compassionate heart and was always willing to help those in need with whatever it was, day or night.  He was an accomplished cook and enjoyed cooking for his family and friends.   He had a deep love for Ireland and was able to fulfill his dream of living there on and off over a period of six years learning about the customs of the Irish people and making many friends.  An avid football fan, Shane loved Notre Dame and the Dallas Cowboys.

Shane grew up in a family where three generations served their community as firefighters.  He was a firefighter himself, serving at the Fort Hood Military Base Fire Department and at the Naples Fire Department for over 20 years. In Naples he served as both a firefighter and a Training Officer. Shane was awarded the department's top award as Fireman of the Year in both 2007 and 2008.  He always claimed the fire department was a family business.

Visitation will be from 5-7 pm on Sunday, January 26, 2025 in the chapel of Harrison Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at  2 pm on Monday, January 27, 2025 at Harrison Funeral Home with Roger and Ron Hammonds officiating.  Burial will take place at Old Union Cemetery in Simms. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Naples Fire Department or Omaha Cares.
