Shirley Ruth Burris, age 80, of Big Spring, Texas, formerly of Bryans Mill, Texas, passed away Thursday, January 7, 2021 in Big Spring.  Shirley was born August 30, 1940 in Duncan, Oklahoma to Robert Hickman and Mildred Thompson Hickman.

Shirley was a member at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Bryans Mill.  She was also a member of the Ladies of Bryans Mill and Friends group.  She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and watching her hummingbirds.  She was a good seamstress.  She loved helping others and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. Shirley also enjoyed spending time at the lake, reading books and drinking diet coke.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Burris; her parents; one son, Clifton Burris; and three sisters, Gwen Shaw, Bobbie Dorman, and Betty Nowlin.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Fonda and Dr. Fenwick Charters of Langley, B.C., Canada; one son and two daughters-in-law, Shayne and Carrie Burris of Big Spring, and Brenda Burris of Bryans Mill; four grandchildren, Shelly Rosen, Joshua Smith, Jesse Burris, and Kyle Burris; six great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 9, 2021 at Harrison Funeral Home in Naples, Texas.  Graveside services will be at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, January 9, 2021 at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Marietta, Texas with Ronald Stringer officiating.
