Thelma Harty Smith, age 89, of Marietta, Texas, passed away Sunday, August 30, 2020 in Hughes Springs, Texas.  Thelma was born September 10, 1930 in Marietta, Texas to Horace Harty and Minnie Priscilla Smith Harty.

Thelma was a lifelong member at Oak Ridge Baptist Church in Marietta.  She was a homemaker.  Thelma enjoyed crafting, flowers, and gardening.

Thelma was preceded in death by her husband, Tommie Smith; her parents; two sons, James "Peavine" Smith and Rickie Smith; two older sisters, Inez Shaddix and Estelle Smith; her twin sister, Melba Harty; and one grandson, Bobby Smith.

Survivors include one son, Kenneth Smith of DeSoto, Texas; one daughter and son-in-law, Missie and Cole McCord of Hughes Springs, Texas; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, August 31, 2020 at Harrison Funeral Home in Naples, Texas.  Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 1, 2020 at Oak Ridge Baptist Church in Marietta with Dr. Chas Carlisle and Rev. David Hazelwood officiating.  Interment will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Marietta.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Oak Ridge Baptist Church.
