Thresa Renee Amison Grisham, lovingly known to her family—and to the many friends who became family—as "NaNa," passed away on Friday, April 18, 2025, in Ft. Worth, Texas, at the age of 68. She was a longtime resident of Mt. Pleasant, Texas. Thresa was born on January 19, 1957, in Naples, Texas, to Gulie Kinlock Grisham Jr. and Dorothy Lena Shaddix.

She graduated from Hughes Springs High School and went on to earn her Bachelor of Science in Education from East Texas Baptist College. She treasured her time on "The Hill" and the lifelong friendships she made there. Thresa later earned her Master of Arts in Education and became certified in Special Education. Over the course of her 38-year career in public education, Thresa taught nearly every age group, finishing her career with the little ones in Pre-K and Kindergarten at Avinger ISD. She loved all of her "kids" and impacted countless lives. Thresa made every student feel loved, respected, and seen. She met them exactly where they were—with grace, patience, and Christ's love. Thresa was a natural educator. Even after retiring, she had no plans to stop teaching. She eagerly created lesson plans and activities for her oldest grandson, Henry. With Thresa, everything was a lesson, an opportunity.

Thresa had a passion for music. She loved to sing and play the piano and was part of several choirs throughout her life. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Mount Pleasant. Her friends and family meant the world to her. She would drive all over to see them. Thresa loved a good treat, even when she was trying to watch what she ate, you'd catch her "slivering" a cake until a good-sized piece was gone. In her book, nothing could beat a good cup of coffee, some porch-sitting, laughing, reminiscing, problem-solving and praying with those she held dear.Whether she was offering decorating advice or spiritual encouragement, Thresa was a steady source of comfort and joy.

Above all, Thresa adored her grandsons—her little "darlings" who, in her eyes, hung the moon. She loved deeply, laughed often, and lived her faith boldly. Her unwavering love for the Lord shaped every part of her life, and she consistently pointed those around her back to God's Word and His goodness.

Thresa was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Deborah Grisham Dodd; a sister-in-law, Dawn Whittington; and her great-nephew, Kinsler Reece Duncan.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Haylie and Hunter Handley of Barnes, Texas; her beloved grandsons, Henry Grisham Handley and Franklin Wilder Handley; two sisters, Brenda Grisham and Dana Wyatt of Benbrook, Texas, and Glenda Grisham, also of Benbrook; her nephew, Paul Flournoy, and his wife Melanie Flournoy; and numerous adored aunts and cousins from the Grisham and Shaddix families. Thresa is also leaving behind a dear group of friends who truly became family—a faithful circle that brought endless joy, support, and love into her life.

A service celebrating Thresa's life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 3, 2025, at Oak Ridge Baptist Church in Marietta.
