Obituary

Shelby Thomas "Uncle Tom" Lindsay, age 88, of Omaha, Texas, passed away Saturday, October 8, 2016 at his home. Tom was born June 10, 1928 in Ozark, Alabama to Ambrose W. Lindsay and Mattie Coker Lindsay.

Tom served in the United States Navy. He retired from the Navy after 20 years of service. Upon retirement from the Navy, Tom worked as an upholsterer and as a carpenter. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 1890 in Rocky Branch. Tom enjoyed hunting and fishing, reading, and playing pool. He also enjoyed watching Nascar and the Dallas Cowboys.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents; and four sisters.

Surviving family members include his wife of 55 years, Wanda Lindsay of Omaha; three sons and one daughter-in-law, Michael Lindsay of San Diego, California, Thomas and Ann Lindsay of Pittsburg, Texas, and Sheldon Lindsay of Naples; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Cindy and Albert Pierucci of Las Vegas, Nevada, LaVera and Terry Keene of Omaha, and Connie Lindsay of Omaha; one brother and sister-in-law, Sheldon and Elaine Lindsay of Houston; fifteen grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at the funeral home. Graveside services with military honors will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at Springhill Cemetery in Naples with Bro. Mel Murphy officiating.
