Ula Margaret Tigert Scaff
Daingerfield, Texas • June 24, 1945 – June 20, 2025

Ula Margaret Scaff of Daingerfield, Texas, went home to be with the Lord, surrounded by her family. She was a woman full of love, kindness, and quiet strength—and she never met a stranger.

Ula was happiest when her hands were busy—whether she was sewing, quilting, baking something sweet, or reading one of the two or three books she'd fly through each week. She made the best desserts around—her eclairs and brownies were legendary with the grandkids—and her home was always full of good food and laughter.

She loved Jesus, her family, and her friends deeply, and she gave of herself freely, never asking for anything in return. She was truly the most unselfish soul. Her door was always open, and her heart even more so.

She spent 29 years working for the Atlanta Independent School District, where she cared for every student and teacher like they were family. But her proudest role of all was being "Mama" and "Grandma."

Ula is survived by her loving husband, William "Bill" Gordan Scaff; her children and their spouses—Ginger McCullough  son in law Tim McCullough,  Geniece Conly (Scott), Shay Brewton, David Scaff (Jamie), and Peter Scaff (Amy); her grandchildren—Dustin Brewton (Hailey), Jacob McCullough, Sara McCullough, Brooke Gray (Robert), Jerrie Vasquez (Phillip), Austin Landry Brewton, Jake Scaff (Brooke), Zach Scaff (Kendall), Charlee Scaff, David Scaff, and Connor Scaff; and great-grandchildren—Colson Gray, Clara Gray, and Amelia Brewton.

She also leaves behind her siblings—Joe Ann "Joe Baby" Hardwick, Lee Tigert (Kathy), Eva Marlar (Ricky), and Pal Tigert (Tammy)—and brothers- and sisters-in-law Bob Scaff (Debbie), Edith Perry (John), and Dianne Matthews, along with a big extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends all over East Texas.

She was welcomed into Heaven by her parents, Louis and Mary Tigert; her beloved in-laws, Alvin and Kate Brewton; her grandson, Justin McCullough; her mother-in-law, Dolly Scaff; and her brother-in-law, Terry Hardwick.

Ula loved big and lived simply. She leaves behind a legacy of faith, family, and the kind of love that wraps around you like one of her quilts.

Her family would like to give a special heartfelt thank you to her sister, Eva, who was a true angel during these past several months.  We're also incredibly grateful to the nursing and administrative staff at Greenhill Villas of Mt. Pleasant and to Chambers Hospice Association for their kindness and compassion.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 24, 2025 at Concord Missionary Baptist Church in Omaha with Rev. Nolan Richey officiating.  Interment will follow at Concord Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the church, prior to the funeral.

In honor of Ula, the family asks that you bake something sweet and share it with someone you love—or donate to the Martha Edwards Flower Endowment Fund at Titus Regional Medical Center or to Concord Missionary Baptist Church.
