Una Lee "Pat" Patterson Shirey, age 98, went to be with the Lord on Friday, April 15th. Pat was born on December 10, 1917 in Bettie Texas, to Samuel Charlie Patterson and Vannie Belinda Taylor Patterson. She was a faithful member of Rocky Branch Missionary Baptist Church. Pat went to beauty school in Dallas and later bought a beauty shop in Naples. She married Dewey Shirey on July 19, 1949 in Naples, Texas. Pat sold her shop and became a full-time wife and mother shortly before her first child, Charles, was born. Wanda followed three years later and Jimmy was born 11 months later. Pat picked, canned and froze vegetables each summer. She was a wonderful cook and often invited evangelists to her home when they were holding revivals as well as friends and family. Pat was a loving and devoted wife and mother. She put the needs of her family and their welfare before her own as long as she lived. She enjoyed playing 42, Moon and Wahoo even at 98 years old.

She is preceded in death by her husband, D. W. Shirey.

She is survived by her children, Charles & Sharron Shirey of Naples, John & Wanda Skipper of Hughes Springs, and Jimmy & Teddy Shirey of Naples; 18 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces & nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, April 18, 2016 at the funeral home. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 19, 2016, at South Union Baptist Church in Daingerfield with Bro. Gary Griffith and Bro. Chad Thompson officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to South Union Baptist Church or Rocky Branch Missionary Baptist Church.
