Velma Lee Durham, age 66, of Simms, Texas, passed away Sunday, July 23, 2023 in Atlanta, Texas. Velma was born on September 26, 1956, New Boston, Texas, to Robert Clayton Carter and Dorothy Belle Taylor Carter.

Velma was a Christian. She worked for Jordan Healthcare as a homecare provider. Velma was devoted to her family. She was a kind- hearted person, and always saw the best in people. Velma loved to cook, laugh, and sew.

Velma was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Annie Durham; and one sister, Carol Gipson.

Survivors include two brothers, Robert Carter and wife Francine of Simms and Doyle Carter and friend Steve Beck of Texarkana, Texas; two sisters, Francine "Sam" Carter and Novelle Carter of Atlanta; three stepdaughters, Marie Autry, Linda Taylor, and Jenn Cole; and numerous other nieces and nephews, step grandchildren, step great- grandchildren, and special friends.

Private services were held at Sand Hill Cemetery in Simms, Texas.
