Virginia Louise Hancock, age 76, of Texarkana, Texas, passed away Thursday, August 27, 2020 at her home. Virginia was born October 13, 1943 in Shreveport, Louisiana.

Virginia was involved with volunteer work all her life.  She worked to furnish the first kindergarten room in the DeQueen, Arkansas school, and was active with Girl Scouts most of her life.  While living in Nashville, AR, she was active in foreign exchange student placement in schools and with families.  In Texarkana, she worked with a group to furnish and decorate the new dorm at the Texarkana Baptist Orphanage.  There she received the "Jefferson Award" for this and other efforts.  She worked with PTA at Redwater, Texas, band concessions at Liberty Eylau School, and Buchanan First Baptist Church.  Accepting Christ at a young age, Virginia rededicated her life at Unity Baptist after her girls were grown.  Her dementia took many of her memories, but music kept her aware.  Every time she heard "How Great Thou Art," she would comment about her Grandmama singing it so well while she played the piano right to the end.

Virginia is survived by her husband of 60 years, Curtis Hancock, Jr. or Texarkana, Texas; daughters and sons-in-law, Terri and Frank Bunger, and Gina and Fred Goad all of Little Rock, Arkansas, and Anna and Anders Stenstrom of Sweden; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Ray and Pat Franklin, and Robert Haddock; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 30, 2020 at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Marietta, Texas with Rev. James Brinkley officiating.  The body will lie in state from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Saturday, August 29, 2020 at Harrison Funeral Home in Naples, Texas.
