VirGinia Tez Shirey Talley passed from her earthly life of 77 years into eternal life on November 23, 2020, following an extended series of debilitating falls which left her immobile, complicated by the recent onset of Parkinson's disease.

She was born at Pittsburg, Texas on September 11, 1943, to parents Virginia Maye Polson and Ellis Shirey at the height of WW2. Ellis had just completed training as a nurse but was granted a few days to see VirGinia born, then report immediately, on the day of VirGinia's birth, for his assignment and immediate transfer to the 339th Fighter Squadron of the newly-formed 8th Air Force, in England. He did not see VirGinia again until the end of the war, following VE Day, three years later.

VirGinia started her school training at the newly-opened Paul H Pewitt School in Omaha/Naples and was in the first class to complete all 12 years at Pewitt, graduating in 1962. She was a twirler in the high school band and a member of the National Honor Society. An accomplished piano student, and member of Naples First Baptist Church, she was called on to fill a vacancy as church organist as a freshman at Pewitt and continued until she left to attend East Texas State Teachers College in Commerce, Texas, where she graduated with a degree in early childhood education after only three years.

VirGinia met Reggie Talley of Omaha, in the summer of 1958, and embarked on a courtship of seven years while he attended and graduated from SMU in Dallas and she completed high school and college training.

VirGinia and Reggie were married in 1965 at Naples First Baptist Church and moved to Dallas where she taught school at Pierce High School for many years. She and Reggie adopted daughter, Tiffany Virginia in 1976, and son James Shirey, in 1979. VirGinia was very active at Richardson Heights Baptist Church, as a Sunday school teacher and a Director of the Prayer Ministry, with Reggie for over 13 years.

She also worked summers at Dallas Science Library in Richardson, which later became UT Dallas, started a children's elementary school at St. Andrews United Methodist Church in Plano, served as the first President of Bethany Adoption Agency in Dallas for several years and returned to her love of teaching early childhood education, at Lover's Lane Methodist Church in Dallas, until her retirement in year 2000, when she and Reggie moved to the Emerald Bay community in Bullard, Texas, for retirement.

Before sickness and immobility overcame her in about 2010, she taught Sunday School at Colonial Hills Baptist Church in Tyler, again working with young children.

She will be buried in a Polson Family section at Union Cemetery near Pittsburg.  No public burial service will be scheduled to celebrate her life until the pandemic subsides
