Winfred Tillman Gillum, Jr., more affectionately known as "Wimpy, Jr.," age 76, of Omaha, Texas passed away Thursday, January 19, 2017 at a Mt. Pleasant, Texas hospital. Winfred was born December 18, 1940 in Benton, Arkansas to Winfred T. Gillum, Sr. and Pearler Marybel Pierce Gillum.
Winfred spent his career as a welder and welder inspector. He was a United States Navy Veteran and proud of his service. He was a member at First Southern Baptist Church in Taft, California. Winfred enjoyed woodworking and watching the Dallas Cowboys. He also loved spending time with his beloved cocker spaniel, Dobby.
Winfred was preceded in death by his Wife, Ruth Gillum in 2008; and his parents.
Surviving family members include four daughters and three sons-in-law, Teri Kay and Mitch Brashier of El Paso, Texas, Shawn and Tony Irby of Pearland, Texas, Kelly Lynn Gillum of Omaha, and Brittany and Eric Sivertson of Manson, Washington; one brother and sister-in-law, Terry and Ruby Gillum of Omaha; one sister and brother-in-law, Faye and Donny Naquin of Granbury, Texas; eight grandchildren, Drake French, Kristian French, Devon Irby, Kayla Irby, Alyssa Irby, Jordan Irby, Gabe Sivertson, and Amelia Sivertson; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Harrison Funeral Home in Naples. A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
